HC Deb 03 April 1968 vol 762 cc83-4W
Mr. Hooson

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what was the annual value per farm of the agricultural support and services expenditure in England and Wales, respectively, during the years 1966 and 1967.

Mr. John Mackie

Average payments per agricultural holding by way of farming grants and subsidies in 1965–66 and 1966–67 respectively were approximately £223 and £230 in England, and £209 and £210 in Wales. The average size of holding in Wales (excluding statistically insignificant holdings) however is 58.49 acres as compared with an average of 88.39 acres in England. I regret that similar information about payments under the agricultural price guarantees or expenditure on other agricultural services cannot be produced.
