HC Deb 01 April 1968 vol 762 cc46-7W
Mr. Anderson

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that the majority of the areas in Monmouthshire most attractive to tourists are not eligible under the new loan fund for small hotels; and whether he will treat the recommendations of the Hunt Committee on intermediate areas as being equally applicable to the tourist industry.

Mr. Crosland

Assistance to small hotels from the Rural Industries Loan Fund was announced by my right hon. Friend the Chief Secretary to the Treasury as a measure of regional assistance to help certain rural parts of the development areas. The proposed hotel development incentive scheme which I outlined to the House on 20th March will provide investment incentives throughout Great Britain to hotels and similar establishments which meet the minimum size and other criteria. I cannot anticipate the report of the Hunt Committee.
