§ Mr. Whitakerasked the Minister of Public Building and Works whether he will consider erecting a plaque at Speakers Corner to commemorate the centenary of the right to hold meetings there.
§ Mr. MellishAlthough freedom of public speaking at Hyde Park Corner is a traditional privilege of long standing I am advised that the right to hold meetings there was first enshrined in the Parks Regulation Act of 1872. If the suggestion of a commemorative plaque receives 565W general support, I will arrange for the matter to be considered nearer the centenary year.
