Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what discussions he has had, or intends to have, with the Governments of the Channel Islands concerning Great Britain's entry into the Common Market; and whether he will give an assurance that no action on Great Britain's entry into the European Economic Community will be taken which will affect the Channel 520W Islands, until the authorities there have signified their acceptance.
§ Mr. TaverneThere has been the closest consultation on this matter between Her Majesty's Government and the Insular Authorities in the Channel Islands for a considerable time, and this will continue as necessary. My right hon. Friend is now awaiting the formal views of the Islands' legislatures.
