§ Mr. Alfred Morrisasked the Minister of Transport what further consideration her Department is giving to the effect of ingestion of milk on concentrations of blood alcohol, what assessment she has made of the findings of the research on this subject published by Professor John Yudkin and others for the Department of Nutrition, Queen Elizabeth College, University of London, a copy of which has been sent to her, and if she will make a statement.
§ Mr. CarmichaelThis research confirms that the rate of absorption of alcohol into the bloodstream is slowed down if food, particularly fatty food, is taken before or with the alcohol. This is why it is particularly important never to drive after drinking on an empty stomach.
