As regards the second part, I would refer my hon. Friend to the statement made by my right hon. Friend the Foreign Secretary in the Council of Western European Union on 4th July, which has been published as a White Paper.
§ Q24. Mr. Hugh Jenkinsasked the Prime Minister if, in view of the decline in French support for British entry into the Common Market, he will now withdraw the British application to join the European Economic Community.
