§ Mr. Whitakerasked the Minister of Transport whether she is satisfied at the rate of implementation of the Buchanan Report, and whether she will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT a list of those completed schemes in the country which give effect to the Report's recommendations.
§ Mr. CarmichaelThe Buchanan/Crowther Report advocated a vigorous urban road programme, expanded public transport, improved traffic management and co-ordinated planning. These are all key parts of the Government's urban transport policy. The Report also stressed the need for environmental traffic management. The forthcoming Transport Bill, which my right hon. Friend hopes to introduce next Session, will include proposals to improve local authorities' limited powers in this field.
