HC Deb 23 October 1967 vol 751 cc361-2W
56. Mr. Riggs-Davison

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what is Her Majesty's Government's pro- gramme of assistance to Arab refugees, whether through the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, or otherwise.

Mr. Goronwy Roberts

In 1967 the United Kingdom contribution to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency's normal programme was $4.5 million; in addition we made a special contribution of $500,000 for expenditure by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency on emergency services for those displaced by the hostilities of June 1967.

As a first emergency measure we supplied blankets, tents and medical supplies from Ministry of Defence stocks in Cyprus.

Her Majesty's Government have also, since the hostilities, made available £500,000 for expenditure by the Jordan Government on projects of reconstruction and rehabilitation.
