HC Deb 30 November 1967 vol 755 c152W
43. Mr. Gresham Cooke

asked the Postmaster-General when sufficient repairs will be put in hand to allow more than 70 per cent. of local calls to be correctly routed and with a ringing tone when calls are made on the Victoria Exchange in the morning.

Mr. Edward Short

According to our records about 5 per cent. of day-time week-day local calls on this exchange fail for technical reasons. This is poorer than the standard for London as a whole, and a special investigation is in hand.

In 25 per cent. of calls the recipient does not reply, or is engaged, leaving about 70 per cent. which are completed sucessfully.
