§ Mr. Hoosonasked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will provide for a major north-south road in Wales and a major east-west road in mid-Wales during the coming year so as to relieve unemployment in Wales and provide an adequate basis for communication within the Principality.
§ Mr. Cledwyn HughesMy plans for improving trunk roads in central Wales are described in paragraphs 54, 55 and 371 of "Wales: The Way Ahead". I shall continue to give priority during the coming year and thereafter to the Brecon-Llangurig and Haverfordwest-Bangor 183W roads as well as to the Aberystwyth-Shrewsbury road.
I am undertaking over £½ million worth of additional road improvements and maintenance work in Mid-Wales this winter which will help to relieve unemployment.
