§ Mr. George ThomsonThe United Kingdom is a party to the Treaty of Guarantee, signed at Nicosia on 16th August, 1960 (Cmnd. 1093).
The question of action under this Treaty has not arisen but together with their United States and Canadian colleagues, British representatives at Ankara, Athens and Nicosia are doing everything in their power to avert the threat of war from Cyprus and in particular to support the efforts made in the cause of peace by the United States President's special emissary, Mr. Cyrus Vance.
