§ Mr. Gwynfor Evansasked the Secretary of State for Wales what plans he has to increase the sum paid by the Government 142W to promote the publication in the Welsh language of books for adults.
§ Mr. Cledwyn HughesRepresentatives of the Welsh Book Publishers and of other interested organisations put a case to me at a meeting on 6th October, 1967 for an increase in the present Government grant, and I promised to consider their case, in consultation with my right hon. Friend, the Secretary of State for Education and Science. We shall do so in the light of any relevant recommendations in the forthcoming report of the Central Advisory Committee for Education (Wales) and of any advice which my right hon. Friend receives from the Library Advisory Council for Wales as a result of the recommendations which will be made to the Council by its Working Party on the subject of Welsh books.
