HC Deb 29 November 1967 vol 755 c103W
61 and 64. Lord Hamilton

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (1) what will be the additional costs to Ulster agriculture due to the Government's economic measures announced on 18th November;

(2) if he will estimate the extra bank charges which will be incurred by the agriculture industry in Northern Ireland in a full year as a result of the eight per cent. Bank Rate.

Mr. Peart

The increase in Bank Rate might raise the cost of bank credit to agriculture in Northern Ireland in a full year by about £270,000, of which about £130,000 would be on credit for current farming purposes. It is too soon to assess how the other economic measures announced on 18th November will affect agricultural costs.
