§ Mr. McNamaraasked the Postmaster-General whether, in the light of the policy announced by the Government when Post Office Savings Bank investment accounts were introduced in June, 1966, the rate of interest payable on these accounts will now be increased.
§ Mr. Edward ShortYes. The interest rate on these particular accounts will be increased from 5½ per cent. to 6 per cent. from 1st January next. The higher rate will apply to deposits already with us as well as to deposits received from January onwards.
