HC Deb 21 November 1967 vol 754 cc329-30W
Mr. Eadie

asked the Minister of Social Security, in view of the uncertainty that has arisen in Scotland about her policy on the application of the means test in the field of retirement pensions, if she will now make a statement.

Mrs. Hart

It is possible that some readers of the "Scottish Pensioner" have some uncertainty because two completely conflicting reports of my views on this subject appeared in the issue of November, 1967. The first report, on page 1, which suggested that I favoured the means-testing of retirement pensions, grossly misrepresented my views. The other, on page 3, accurately reflected the speech I made in Newcastle on 25th September.
