HC Deb 21 November 1967 vol 754 c304W
95. Mr. Ness Edwards

asked the Minister of Power what is the estimated decline of manpower in the South Wales mining industry for the years 1968 to 1975, as envisaged in the White Paper on Fuel Policy.

Mr. Freeson

On the basis of a national annual reduction of 35,000 in mining manpower up to 1970–71, the annual decline of manpower in the South Wales mining industry is likely to be about 5,000. The decline, although at a lower rate, is expected to continue during the period to 1975.
