HC Deb 21 November 1967 vol 754 c311W
Mr. Stratton Mills

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what proposals have Her Majesty's Government put to the Israeli Government regarding the Middle East settlement; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. George Brown

My consultations with foreign Governments must be confidential, and it would, therefore, not be appropriate for me to make a statement.

Mr. Leadbitter

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what recent discussions he has had on the Middle East; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. George Brown

When I visited New York for the 22nd session of the General Assembly, I had consultations with President Johnson and with a large number of Foreign Ministers of Middle Eastern and other interested countries and with the United Nations Secretary General. Since then I have remained in continuous consultation personally or through diplomatic channels with the Governments concerned.
