HC Deb 21 November 1967 vol 754 c317W
104. Mr. Edward M. Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if, in view of the importance of the price of electricity to the proposed aluminium smelters, he will take the necessary steps to guarantee the best estimate of cost by the Scottish electricity boards so that they, in line with the Central Electricity Generating Board for England and Wales, can offer a specific price to the smelter companies without putting the interests of their other consumers at risk; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Ross

It is the intention both of the Government and of the Scottish electricity boards that in any special arrangements to be made for supplying aluminium smelting companies the interests of the boards' other consumers should be safeguarded. According to my information discussions between the boards and the interested companies are proceeding satisfactorily, and I have no further statement to make.
