HC Deb 21 November 1967 vol 754 cc287-8W
46. Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer, in view of the fact that sales under the Crown Lands Acts of Her Majesty's Foreshore are contrary to the public rights of access to the adjacent beaches, if he will take steps to amend the Crown Lands Acts or otherwise to prevent future sales of Her Majesty's Foreshores and to protect the public's ancient rights of access and use.

Mr. Diamond

No. The only public rights are those of navigation and fishing when the foreshore is covered by water and all sales of Crown Estate foreshore are made subject to those rights.
