HC Deb 21 November 1967 vol 754 cc295-6W
77. Mr. Dance

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether the Redditch Development Corporation have now been asked to reconsider their plans in tile light of his proposal to find sites for an additional 15,000 council houses for Birmingham within the Green Belt area of Worcestershire.

Mr. Greenwood

I have arranged to discuss this whole problem with the Development Corporation, Birmingham and Worcestershire in the next few weeks.

Mr. Dance

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether he is satisfied that all the problems which will arise if the 15,000 houses planned to take overspill from Birmingham are superimposed on an existing balanced community have been considered by Her Majesty's Government; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Greenwood

I shall certainly take these problems into account. An inquiry will be held before any final decision is reached about the use of any of this land for housing.
