HC Deb 21 November 1967 vol 754 cc315-6W
Mr. Whitaker

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT a list of the representations he has received so far from authoritative British and foreign bodies asking that a defence base should not be built on Aldabra; and whether he will place copies of them in the Library.

Mr. Healey

The following is a list of bodies from which I have received representations this year:

  • The Royal Society.
  • The Royal Society of Edinburgh.
  • The British Ornithologists' Union.
  • The Section on Conservation of Terrestrial Communities of the International Biological Programme.
  • The British Section of the International Council for Bird Preservation.
  • The National Audubon Society of the U.S.A.
  • The Chicago Academy of Sciences.
  • The Paleontological Society of the Department of Geography of the University of Illinois.
  • The Labour Peace Fellowship.
  • The Eltham Social Progress Group.
  • The Wildfowlers' Association of Great Britain and Ireland.
  • The Honolulu Zoo.

It would not be proper for me to place copies of representations in the Library without reference to the originators, who will no doubt publish their representations themselves if they so wish.
