HC Deb 20 November 1967 vol 754 c282W
Mr. Russell Johnston

asked the Minister of Transport whether she will commission a study of the volume of Scottish exports shipped from English ports, enumerating the reasons for these shipments, which involve high extra inland freight charges.

Mr. Carmichael

As explained to the hon. Member on 31st May, the bulk of Scottish exports is shipped from Scottish ports.

We do not consider that a special survey of the small proportion which is not so shipped would be justified, but the National Ports Council are always glad to advise any port authority which wishes to conduct a survey of potential traffic.
