HC Deb 20 November 1967 vol 754 c232W
69. Mr. James Johnson

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what progress has been made towards the implementation of the treaty for a nuclear-free zone in Latin America; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Mulley

The Treaty for the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons in Latin America agreed in Mexico City in February this year, has now been signed by twenty-one countries in the region. As I told the House on 2nd November, the United Kingdom Representative announced at the United Nations General Assembly on 26th October that the United Kingdom is willing to sign the two additional Protocols to the Treaty, one covering our territories in the area, and the other in our capacity as a nuclear Power.—[Vol. 753, c. 463–4.]
