HC Deb 20 November 1967 vol 754 cc227-8W
57. Mr. Dodds-Parker

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what arrangements he has made to ensure the safety in South Arabia of British subjects who are responsible for health and air and sea services.

61. Sir Richard Glyn

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what steps his Department have taken to safeguard and eventually to evacuate the employees of Cable and Wireless serving in Aden and their dependants.

Mr. George Brown

The High Commissioner, in conjunction with the Services, has had arrangements in hand for several months to safeguard the security of all British civilians in Aden.

Her Majesty's Government helped to repatriate dependants last July. The High Commission has also made appropriate arrangement in case a deterioration in the security situation should make general evacuation of British civilians necessary.

79. Mr. Peyton

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he will seek an invitation to attend the Aden independence celebrations.

Mr. George Brown

No detailed arrangements have yet been made for the Aden independence celebrations. I do not however consider it necessary that I should attend.
