HC Deb 16 November 1967 vol 754 cc187-8W
Mr. Robert Howarth

asked the Minister of Technology what action is being taken by his Department in relation to the profits of certain contracts for the repair of engine spare parts which were disclosed to the Committee of Public Accounts by Bristol Siddeley Engines Limited.

Mr. Benn

Following an internal investigation I have asked Sir Roy Wilson to include the consideration of the profits on contracts for the repair of spares within the ambit of the enquiries which his Committee is making.

He has very kindly agreed to do so. He has pointed out that the questions which the Committee has now been asked to look into are so closely interwoven with those which it has already been considering that it would be inappropriate to deal with them in a separate report. I appreciate that this will entail some delay in the submission of its report.
