Dame Joan Vickers

asked the Minister of Labour how many disabled men, women and juveniles are unemployed in Plymouths; and what action is being taken to obtain work for them.

Mr. Fernyhough

On 9th October, 1967 there were 293 registered disabled persons (262 men, 29 women and 2 young persons) registered as unemployed in the combined areas of the Plymouth, Devonport and Saltash Employment Exchanges. They are assisted to find suitable employment through the Disablement Resettlement Service of my Ministry and such cases will, I hope be further helped by an Industrial Rehabilitation Unit which it is proposed to establish in the area by early 1969.
