HC Deb 15 November 1967 vol 754 c104W
Sir T. Beamish

asked the Minister of Transport on what date she officially consulted the Economic Planning Council for the South-East on the planning implications of the proposal to close the Hurst Green-Tunbridge Wells-Lewes railway line to passengers; and on what date she received their official advice.

Mr. John Morris

My right hon. Friend asked for the Council's comments on the Railway Board's intention to publish this proposal on 2nd May, 1966, and these were sent to her on 8th June, 1966. After publication, my right hon. Friend again consulted the Council on 29th June, 1967, and she received their final advice on 4th August, 1967.

84. Sir T. Beamish

asked the Minister of Transport if she will now announce her decision on the proposal to close the Hurst Green—Tunbridge Wells—Lewes railway line.

Mr. John Morris

My right hon. Friend is still considering this important proposal in the light of the report made to her by the Transport Users Consultative Committee and the advice she has received from the Economic Planning Council.
