§ Mr. Dodds-Parkerasked the Minister of Transport whether she will give a general direction to British Railways to sell abandoned railway tracks to local authorities, farmers and others, in view of the fact that much money is being spent preventing them becoming overgrown with weeds.
§ Mr. John MorrisNo. The British Railways Board appreciate the need to dispose of surplus land as soon as they can, and they give the first offer to local authorities. So far as disused lines are concerned, the Board are asked to keep the land only if there is a likely future need for a rail service.
