HC Deb 15 November 1967 vol 754 c126W
Mr. Haseldine

asked the President of the Board of Trade (1) how many Yorkshire-based wool textile firms have moved or expanded to development areas since 1960; what industrial development grants have been paid to such firms; and what is their present employment strength in their new locations;

(2) if he will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT a table showing the number of wool textile mills established in each development area for each year since 1960, and the present number of operatives employed.

Mrs. Gwyneth Dunwoody

According to information available to the Board of Trade three firms engaged in woollen and worsted manufacture, as defined by minimum list heading 414 of the Standard Industrial Classification, have established units in development areas since 1960, one in each of the years 1962, 1964 and 1966. The total current employment of these units is 115, including 30 males.

Two of the units represent expansions to a development area by Yorkshire-based firms. Their current employment is 76, including 21 males. I cannot disclose details of financial assistance granted to firms.
