§ 97. Mr. James Davidsonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is now the estimated cost of a road linking 127W Deeside and Speyside by way of Glenfeshie Forest.
§ Mr. RossAt current prices, probably not less than £2¼ million, but no firm estimate could be made without detailed technical investigation.
§ 98. Mr. James Davidsonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will approve the construction of a road linking Deeside and Speyside by way of Glenfeshie Forest to be financed jointly by the county councils concerned and by a Government loan repayable by means of a road-toll.
§ Mr. RossNo. Present Government policy is that tolls are appropriate only to finance expensive new river crossings which provide exceptional savings in time and distance.
