HC Deb 15 November 1967 vol 754 c107W
62. Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the Minister of Transport how much in traffic motive power, convenience, safety and utility is gained or lost, respectively, allowing road and rail transport to travel at over 50 miles per hour; and how much in motive power, convenience, safety, and utility she estimates would be saved by a rule preventing such traffic from exceeding 50 miles per hour.

Mr. Carmichael

I cannot say. Calculations on such a comprehensive and hypothetical proposition would be costly and unreliable.
