HC Deb 14 November 1967 vol 754 c97W
Mr. Monro

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what annual sum is granted to the Scottish Tourist Board; and if he intends to give additional assistance in the future.

Mr. Ross

The Scottish Tourist Board is currently receiving an Exchequer grant of £75,000 for an agreed programme of research over a period of three years which began in February, 1966. For work on overseas publicity the Board also receives an annual grant of £50,000 from the British Travel Association, which is mainly financed by an Exchequer grant-in-aid. In the current financial year the Board will also be receiving from the Association a grant of about £7,000 for work on the Home Holidays Campaign which is being financed by the Government.

I am currently reviewing the problems of the tourist industry with my right hon. Friend the President of the Board of Trade.
