§ Mr. David Howellasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will list the present permanent under-secretaries of each Government Department showing what courses, covering techniques of management, each has attended during the period since January, 1965, giving in each case the duration and location of the course.
§ Mr. CallaghanThe need at this level is being met not by formal courses but by presentations of new techniques, such as those arranged in respect of computers. These presentations are carried out by various organisations, including Departments and outside bodies; but no central record is kept of the attendance of Permanent Secretaries.
