HC Deb 14 November 1967 vol 754 cc86-7W
Mr. Monro

asked the President of the Board of Trade what financial assistance was given by the Government to airfields and air navigation services in Scotland in 1965 and 1966, respectively.

Mr. J. P. W. Mallalieu

In these years nearly all aerodromes in Scotland were owned and operated, and the corresponding aerodrome navigation services provided by the Government.

In the financial year 1965–66 the net deficit on aerodrome account was £149,017 and on aerodrome navigation services £1,057,183. The House has not yet authorised the printing of the 1966–67 accounts.

In addition the Government contributed £12.75 million to the capital cost of the Glasgow municipal airport which opened in May, 1966; and minor grants, totalling £2,000, were made to Dundee and Perth.
