§ 82. Mr. Carol Johnsonasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what consideration has been given to the fact that the present Greek Government is failing to fulfil its commitments under the Statute of the Council of Europe, especially the requirements of Article 3; and whether, in view of this infringement of the Statute. Her Majesty's Government will initiate appropriate steps within the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe with a view to action being taken under Article 8 of its Statute.
§ Mr. William RodgersThe Committee of Ministers have taken note of the resolution passed on 26th September by the Consultative Assembly of the Council of Europe in which the Assembly declared itself ready to make a declaration at the appropriate time on the possibility of the suspension of Greece from the Council of Europe. We do not think that further action is called for in present circumstances.
