§ Mr. Wallasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what steps are being taken to prevent the deliberate violation of British territorial waters off Gibraltar by Spanish warships.
§ Mr. William RodgersUnder international law Spanish and other warships enjoy the right of innocent passage through Gibraltar's territorial sea. Exercise of this right is subject to compliance with the local regulations and with normal navigational practice. If Spanish warships did not comply with these, objection would be made to the Spanish authorities, or action would be taken by the Royal Navy, as appropriate.
