HC Deb 09 November 1967 vol 753 c146W
34. Sir J. Vaughan-Morgan

asked the Postmaster-General, when the custom of requiring new telephone subscribers to pay one year's rental in advance is to cease and the period to be restored to the former three months.

Mr. Joseph Slater

My right hon. Friend has withdrawn the condition in respect of removing subscribers and, provided no engineering work is required, in respect of new customers taking over telephones that are already there. He has no plans for further relaxation at present. The position will be reviewed as and when circumstances permit.
