asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what amounts of Government expenditure, which can be shown to be directly apportioned, are spent in England, Scotland and Wales; and what percentage of total Government expenditure these figures constitute.

Central Government expenditure (excluding debt interest) in Great Britain in 1966–67 was about £9,840 million. Of this, about £3,400 is for Great Britain services which cannot

services, the Great Britain total for which in 1966–67 was about £3,400 million.

The figure for taxation collected in Scotland in 1966–67 (which is not, however, an accurate measure of taxes borne by residents in Scotland) is not immediately available, but I will publish the information when it is available.
