asked the Minister of Social Security what have been the total amounts to date paid out by way of National Assistance to the unofficial strikers in the London and Liverpool Docks, respectively.

£143,468 was paid for the support of dependent wives and children of approximately 9,000 dockers during the strike in Liverpool and £660 was paid to meet particular individual contingencies arising for some dockers. In the London strike, involving approximately 8,000 dockers, the corresponding figures up to 31st October are £30,580 and £64 respectively.
