§ Mr. McGuireasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is aware of the speculative hoarding of current coins; and if he will take steps to deal with this undesirable practice.
§ Mr. CallaghanIt will be necessary to continue the minting of £.s.d. coins for some time to meet legitimate demands. But in order to discourage speculative hoarding all further issues of £.s.d. coins (except sovereigns and Maundy money) will bear the date 1967.
