§ 48. Mr. Haleasked the Secretary of State for Defence why the hon. Member for Oldham, West, has been told that an enlisted man who had deposited the sum of £150 to pay for his discharge will now have to return on foot a distance of 8,000 miles or pay his passage back home.
§ Mr. BoydenUnder paragraph 509 of Queen's Regulations for the Army, 1961, any soldier who is permitted to purchase his discharge whilst serving overseas is required to pay the cost of travel to his place of discharge.
