§ 73. Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Minister of Transport what action is taken when reports are received of unlicensed vehicles being used on the road, to see that during the period before the renewal of the road fund licence such vehicles had Ministry of Transport road test certificates; and what system is used, other than production of such test certificates, on renewal of road fund licences to ensure that vehicles on the road have been properly tested.
§ Mr. John MorrisA retrospective check is not practicable. On the second part of the Question, the police are empowered to require production of a test certificate in respect of any vehicle to which the test requirements apply. Drivers can be and are asked at roadside checks to produce test certificates.
