§ Mr. Russell Johnstonasked the Minister of Labour what progress he has made in seeking to rehabilitate the long-term unemployed in Scotland.
§ Mr. GunterWhere is seems likely that a course at an Industrial Rehabilitation Unit would assist resettlement, my local officers advise unemployed men and women of the advantages of attending a Unit. Separate figures of long-term unemployed entering Scottish Units are not available, but of nearly 1,600 people of all categories who completed courses in Scotland during the last 12-month period for which statistics are available about 930 were placed in employment or went on to take courses of training for skill.
