§ Mr. MulleyAs already announced, Her Majesty's Government and the United States Government have decided to hold a joint arms control verification exercise in the southern part of England in 1968. The purpose is to test possible means of verifying compliance with a hypothetical international agreement limiting conventional land and air forces. The detailed arrangements, including the possibility of inviting visits by observers from other countries, are still being 29W worked out. But we intend to arrange for visits by observers from our North Atlantic Treaty Organisation allies; and there may be opportunities to invite observers from other countries as well.
