Mr. Stodartasked the Secretary of State for Economic Affairs what assessment he has made of the loss to the City of Edinburgh in investment grants and the suggested regional employment premiums, respectively, as a result of the exclusion of Edinburgh, Leith and Portobello from the development area.
§ Mr. ShoreNone. What we did do last year was to assess very carefully the strength of the case for including Edinburgh in the Scottish Development Area, but we came to the conclusion that its particular circumstances would not justify this.
