§ Mr. StonehouseAt the meeting with my French and German colleagues in
282Wland and for Wales and I will shortly lay before Parliament a White Paper setting out the details of our proposals. Briefly, they are to introduce a new form of development plan broadly following the recommendation contained in the report of the Planning Advisory Group ("The Future of Development Plans"); and, in England and Wales, to provide for the delegation to selected inspectors of the power to issue decisions on certain types of planning appeal. The Government believe that proposals on these lines accompanied by appropriate safeguards, will improve, simplify and speed up planning processes. My right hon. Friends and I will consult fully with the local authority associations and other interested bodies (including the Council on Tribunals) on the details of these proposals before the necessary legislation is introduced.
