HC Deb 09 May 1967 vol 746 cc207-8W
Mr. Elystan Morgan

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will cause a survey to be made in England and Wales of the most suitable type of agriculture to which small farmers, now mainly dependent upon milk production, could turn in the event of Great Britain's entry into the European Economic Community.

Mr. Peart

The most suitable type of agriculture for these small farmers would depend on the relative profitability of milk and other commodities in Common Market conditions. This in turn would depend on the nature of the arrangements agreed for an enlarged Community. Until these arrangements are known, any such survey would be premature.
