HC Deb 09 May 1967 vol 746 c206W
79. Mr. Hunter

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the cost of electricity sent out from Hunterston A nuclear power station; and what is the cost of electricity generated from any conventional station of about the same size that came into operation at about the same time.

Mr. Ross

The average cost of electricity sent out from Hunterston in 1966–67 was 1.06d. per unit. During the same year the average cost of electricity generated at Kincardine coal-fired station was 0.786d. per unit. Nuclear plant capital costs are depreciated over 20 years and conventional over 25 years.
