asked the Minister of Power what progress has been made towards reducing the delays in finding acceptable sites for power stations and overhead lines while safeguarding the need for full consultation.

Mr. Freeson

There has been less objection and consequently less delay to some recent power station proposals, though sites remain difficult to find particularly in the Greater London area and the south-east. With overhead lines there has been little change.
