HC Deb 04 May 1967 vol 746 cc112-3W
Mr. Geoffrey Lloyd

asked the Attorney-General whether he will consider introducing legislation, following the judgment in Yorkshire Electricity Board versus Naylor, to abolish the head of damage for loss of expectation of life and to replace it by a fixed suitable sum which a wrongdoer whose act has caused death should pay into the estate of the deceased.

The Attorney-General

This is a matter which is being considered by the Law Commission in the course of its general inquiry into the law relating to the assessment of damages in personal injury litigation and it would be better to await the Commission's report before considering whether legisation is desirable.
